Myopia Control (Nearsightedness)

Myopia (“nearsightedness”) is increasing all over the world at a rapid pace. At Allen Eye Associates our doctors have been analyzing scientific research about how to prevent, reduce, or slow the progression of myopia for our patients.

After much study, we are introducing Myopia Control for qualified patients using the latest and safest technologies including prescription medications, specialized soft contact lenses, and overnight, vision-correcting contact lenses to slow progression in our growing young patients.

We provide the following techniques for myopia control:

  • Corneal Refractive Therapy (CRT). Also known as “orthokeratology,” this treatment entails overnight wear of custom designed gas permeable contact lenses which, in effect, reshape the surface of the eye to reduce or eliminate the patient’s need to wear glasses during the day.

If you are concerned about how fast your child’s eyes (or maybe your own eyes!) are changing, you should call us for an appointment to determine which technology can help slow down or stop the loss of clear vision. The sooner we intervene, the better the chances for success!

Stellest® Lenses

Stellest lenses are specially designed glasses for children with myopia (nearsightedness). They use advanced lens technology to help slow the worsening of myopia as a child grows, while still providing clear, comfortable vision for everyday activities. For children who prefer wearing glasses instead of contact lenses, Stellest can be an effective option for managing myopia and supporting long-term eye health.
